6–7 Roc Day: A Spinning Good Time
Saturday and Sunday

Roc Day or St. Distaff Day was celebrated twelve days after Christmas when spinners resumed their work. Colonial ancestors celebrated the day following the twelfth night as a social event. The gathering recalls a time when almost all spinning was the occupation of women and the
day offered a reprieve from the solitary season to come. Meet the artisans and learn about spinning, weaving and the mirthful observance of Roc Day at the Hardesty-Higgins House
