3 33rd Annual Lexington Road & River Relay
Race Start: 10:00am


The Lexington Road & River Relay is a four-leg event including running, bicycling and canoeing/kayaking over a challenging 16.1 mile course in and around Lexington. Teams and individual participants welcome. Benefits the Lexington Sunrise Rotary Club.

15 New Market Day Parade & Ceremony

Every May 15, the Virginia Military Institute honors those cadets who fought at the Battle of New Market. A special full dress cadet parade is held, roll is called for the cadets who "died on the Field of Honor" and wreaths are placed on the graves of those buried on VMI grounds.

17 May 17, 2008 at 2 p.m.  Hallelujah Hoedown at Shenandoah Caverns! 

An afternoon of fellowship with local favorites singing well-known gospel tunes and popular patriotic tribute to American.  Admission includes concert, American Celebration on Parade and The Yellow Bar.  At American Celebration on Parade you will see spectacular parade floats, props, and settings from the most prestigious parades and events: Presidential Inaugurals, Tournament of Roses and Thanksgiving parades. The Yellow Barn offers a look at our agricultural heritage with historical displays, restored antique farm wagons, carriages and vehicles, indoor beehive, & a country theme gift and wine shop.  $12.00 per person.  $20.00 per person with one-entrée buffet.
