Douthat State Park - Located in the Allegheny Mountains just 5 miles outside Clifton Forge, Douthat is encompassed by breathtaking mountain scenery. Visitors can enjoy a 50-acre trout-stocked lake, a sand beach, boat dock, gift shops, 40 miles of hiking and biking trails, picnic areas and shelters. There are three campgrounds with tent and trailer camping, 30 cabins, two guest lodges, interpretive programs, conference rooms and a restaurant that overlooks the lake. Open March-December.

George Washington & Jefferson National Forests - Visit the National Forests for 1.7 million acres of recreational opportunities. The 12 districts extending from Winchester in the north to Bristol in the south offer camping, picnicking, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, the Appalachian Trail, fishing, hunting, and more!

Massanutten WaterPark – Indoor/Outdoor WaterPark Attraction.  This facility is unique to the Shenandoah Valley.

Natural Chimneys Regional Park - Campground - Natural limestone formations, picnic shelters, hiking, swimming, biking trails, store, game room, fishing, playground available. Season is March-November.

Raymond R. "Andy" Guest Jr. Shenandoah River State Park - Situated on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River with more than 1,600 acres along 5.2 miles of shoreline, Virginia's newest state park offers a large riverside picnic area with shelters, trails, river access, a scenic overlook and car-top boat launch. 14 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. The Indian Hollow Horse Livery operates at the park.

Sky Meadows State Park - Park offers hiking trails, interpretive programs, picnic facilities, primitive camping, guided trail rides and diverse wildlife populations. The park is open year round from 8 am to dusk. Parking fee is required.
