You probably associate the name of Luray with Luray Caverns, which is logical since they are the largest and most visited caverns in the East. You can also play golf here, enjoy sweets at Luray Fudge Company, get lost in the Garden Maze, and hear rocks sing on the Great Stalacpipe Organ. Everyone should visit these caverns, but this is a town with much more to offer. Here are some other sites you need to visit.
Luray Zoo, located just a few miles from the caverns, is a rescue zoo that is home to birds of prey, exotic cats, mammals, and reptiles from around the world. It also boasts a large venomous snake collection.
Arts & Artisans Fine Art Gallery features original paintings and drawings, as well as limited edition prints by local and nationally known artists. After a meal at The Artisans Grill next door, be sure to stop in and see some fine artwork.
The Warehouse Art Gallery presents world-class art in a spacious, casual setting. The gallery specializes in large, original paintings and sculptures, limited edition prints, pottery, photographs, bone sighs, stained glass, and much more.
Accommodation choices also abound in Luray. Plan a memorable stay at The Mimslyn Inn, a grand historic inn fully restored in 2007, or choose from literally dozens of B&B’s, campgrounds, cabins, cottages, and chalets.
Home to Shenandoah National Park headquarters, Luray also offers easy access to the famed Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park Lodging, and all the wonderful outdoor activities the Park has to offer.
