It is with great pleasure that we continue to work together to put the Shenandoah Valley in the travel media spotlight.

This year, the Shenandoah Valley Travel Association (SVTA) attended the MATPRA Media Marketplace in Easton, Maryland.

This is the mid-Atlantic’s biggest media event that is focused exclusively on travel writers. More than 50 journalists were in attendance.

“We see MATPRA as a great tool for maximizing and leveraging our PR resources,” says Helen Morton, a board member of SVTA. “The Shenandoah Valley is rich in storytelling narratives and experiential travel opportunities.”

Follow-up with media from the meetings has begun and will be ongoing. SVTA partners will also host travel media visits to generate stories, build interest, and expand awareness.

At the conclusion of the conference, Winchester (located in the northern Shenandoah Valley) was officially announced as the host city for next year’s MATPRA Marketplace.

MATPRA’s 2017 meeting represents a big win for the Shenandoah Valley, as the region will be heavily promoted as a premier travel destination to attending travel writers, with numerous add-on FAM trip opportunities.
