Nestled in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, Clear Spring Homestead B&B was originally an 1100 acre grant from the King of England to the Martin Speck family. The current home was built in 1838 and is the third to have been built on this site. The previous two homes were both claimed by fire.

The home remained in the Speck family until 1937 when it was purchased by S. David and Ruth Shirkey, who renovated and restored the home. The home was then purchased by the Shirkey’s granddaughter, Vonda Reel, who added to the square footage and made many updates.

The home is presently owned by the Shirkey’s daughter Ramona S. Evans and her husband, Philip D. Evans who have updated and established the property as a Bed & Breakfast.

The home has a limestone foundation. The original kitchen with a large fireplace for cooking is on the ground floor. Also on the ground floor is a Handicap accessible bedroom and bathroom, as well as the Commons Conference Facilities. Upstairs, a center hallway ascends to the attic.

The First Floor Includes:

  • Parlor
  • Formal Dining Room
  • Kitchen
  • Living Room
  • Laundry
  • 2 Bedrooms
  • 1 & 1/2 Baths

The Second Floor Has:

  • 3 Bedrooms
